Sherman School Library Media Center

During Spring, 2001, we moved into a beautiful, new Library Media Center which has seating and tables for two different classes, a story corner with bean bag chairs, and a research center with reference materials, six MacIntosh computers conncected to the school network, nine pc computers for book searching and internet use as well as three circulation and cataloging computers.

The L.M.C. is staffed by the Library Media Specialist, Ms. Anne Krieg, and part-time aides Mrs. Hildi Grob, Mrs. Julie Scanlon, Mrs. Debbie Seiden, and Mrs. Annie Swanson. Parent volunteers also provide valuable assistance. Kindergarten - fifth grade classes are scheduled for library media classes with Mrs. Krieg once a week, sixth grades are scheduled twice a week, and seventh and eight graders are scheduled once every six days.

The library's resources are available for student and staff use from 8:00 a.m. throughout the day until 3:00 p.m., and often later if arrangements are made ahead of time to make sure a staff member will be in the L.M.C. We are working to build a collection of resources which both support the curriculum as well as provide students with information, fiction, and picture books that are stimulating and enjoyable.
