According to Connecticut's Common Core of Learning, literacy includes not only the ability to read and write, but also the ability to access and process information in a wide range of formats. K-8 classes use The Big Six Research Skills.

4) Use of Information (What information can I use?)

5) Synthesis (How can I put my information together?)
