Missy Alexander

Dr. Alexander's PhotDr. Missy Alexander is currently the Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Western Connecticut State University, where she held the position of Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences from 2012-2016. She has over 20 years of experience teaching in higher education at both public and private institutions. She has a PhD in Media Ecology from the Steinhardt School Of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University. As a 20 year resident of Sherman, Missy has served on the Library Board, Holiday Point Association Board, and has volunteered for the Sherman Chamber Ensemble. When her two children, Eva and Michael Petkanas, were in the Sherman School, she was a substitute teacher and frequently volunteer in the school library. 

Missy and her husband, Bill Petkanas, live in Holiday Point and when not working in education can be found playing music at several local venues.
