Mr. Hanley's PhotoRowland Hanley has served on the Board since January 2012; currently as Chairman. He has served as Vice Chairman and Secretary; and Chairman of the Budget, Finance, and Insurance Sub-Committee. He has been a member of the Policy, Maintenance, and Transportation Sub-Committees. He was a founding member of the joint Town/District Kindergarten Wing Advisory Committee. He has also served on the Sherman Senior and Veterans Tax Relief Commission, has acted as Moderator at Town Meetings, and was President of the Holiday Point Association Board. He has volunteered with Workplace Big Brother/Big Sister; The Bowery Mission in NYC; and with the Red Cross at the WTC.

Rowland’s formal training is in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and he has degrees from Southern Oregon University and Ohio University. He has spent most of his career helping individuals, teams, and organizations be more effective in setting and accomplishing their goals and objectives. His career has spanned roles in research, teaching, management, and consulting. He is currently a Human Resources executive with the world’s leading IT research and advisory firm.

He is a product and a fierce supporter of public education. He is a firm believer that a single inspired teacher - with the support of a community - can make a fundamental difference in a student’s ability to fulfill their potential. He lives with his family in the woods, on the lake, and can often be found in, on, or around the water.
