Technology

Technology at The Sherman School is incorporated throughout the curricula and is utilized by all students grades K-8. The Sherman School is equipped with a 25 iMac computer lab which is accessed by students in grades K-5 once every six days.  Each middle school student is issued a chromebook as well as access to powerful software including Google Apps, KidPix Deluxe, Photo Booth to the iWork’s Suite and many others.

In addition to the stationary computer lab, we also have two mobile labs and an iPad cart that is circulated throughout the school. These labs are primarily used in grades 3-5, as well as within the special areas.  Interactive whiteboards are utilized in all classrooms as well as in the computer lab.

Throughout their elementary education, Sherman students utilize technology in a variety of ways. For example, they create presentations for Social Studies and Science, compose documents for Language Arts, and utilize graphics to enhance assignments. In Middle School technology, the students learn to blog, create movies and podcasts, create presentations, use word processing applications, prepare spreadsheets for graphing, create and post web pages, and navigate and search the internet safely.
